Carl H. Tiedemann

Founder and Chairman Emeritus

Carl H. Tiedemann founded the firm in 1980 and served as Chairman Emeritus of TIG until his passing in April 2016. Mr. Tiedemann also served as Chairman Emeritus of Tiedemann Wealth Management, LLC and Tiedemann Trust Company.

Prior to founding TIG, Mr. Tiedemann worked with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, serving as President (1975-1980), Chairman of DLJ Securities (1966-1974), and remained as a Director of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette until 1985.

Mr. Tiedemann has served as Director to many companies, including Lexington Management Corporation, a mutual fund management company; Piedmont Management Company, a large publicly traded reinsurance company; Kleinwort Benson Mutual Funds, a large London-based asset management firm; Curtice Burns, a large food processing company; Nikko Securities International, a major Japanese investment banking firm; Dillon Read Equity Fund, a New York based mutual fund owned by Dillon Read; and Winrock International, a private foundation funded by Winthrop Rockefeller estate. He also served as Trustee and Vice President of Allen Stevenson, a secondary school for boys in New York City (1972-1991). Mr. Tiedemann has served on the Board of Governors of the American Stock Exchange and on various committees of the New York Stock Exchange and the Securities Industry Association.
